The Sport and Recreation Alliance has brokered an exciting partnership with energy consultants Utility Aid to bring potential savings of millions of pounds to the UK’s sport and recreational organisations and grassroots clubs.
The project, named Energy 4 Sport & Recreation, offers all organisations across the sport and recreation sector free, simple and impartial energy audits that could lead to massive savings on the amount they each spend on energy bills.
Any facility-owning organisation can benefit from taking an energy audit, from large national governing body headquarters and regional offices to local club houses, dance venues and sports halls.
Tim Lamb, Chief Executive of the Sport and Recreation Alliance said:
“With our sports club survey highlighting that one in four clubs in the UK are running at a loss, and with a further one in four working their hardest just to break even, we know that savings made on an expensive resource like energy will really count.
“This project has the potential to alleviate the concerns of hundreds and thousands of organisations and clubs - freeing up the money they save on energy bills to spend on the things that really matter, like new equipment, coaches and facilities.”

Energy 4 Sport & Recreation is launching in March 2012 with a big drive to get hundreds of national governing bodies, organisations, clubs and activities signed up and making savings by the end of the year.
