Peter Thomas MBE, a Vice President of the Sport and Recreation Alliance, has been accorded the status of Honorary Professor by Buckinghamshire New University in recognition of his distinguished national and international career in sports administration.
Over the course of his long career, Peter, has undertaken numerous varied and challenging roles from Sports Council Consultant to the Sultanate of Oman to Head of the Arts, Sport and Recreation Service of Buckinghamshire County Council.
He was also Chairman of the Velodrome Trust, the National Cycling Centre in Manchester, for 12 years and he is currently the President of the Buckinghamshire and Milton Keynes County Sports Partnership, having previously served as its first Chairman.
For many years, Peter was also a leading light at the Sport and Recreation Alliance (formerly, of course, as the CCPR) where he served as a member of the executive committee as well as performing the role of Deputy Chairman of the national sport and youth committee. He was created a Vice President of the Alliance in 2004.
