Around every two years the Sport and Recreation Alliance investigates the health of sports clubs. This time, we included questions as part of a pan-European survey into social inclusion and volunteering in sports clubs in Europe.
The project sought to provide comparable data across ten European Union member states, convert it into suggestions for action and disseminate this knowledge to politicians, sports professionals and sports clubs.
This report focuses on the findings from England and Wales and provides a snapshot of the state of sports clubs across a range of key areas including participation levels, volunteering, facilities and finance. The information gathered is a useful resource for the sport sector to understand current provision and engagement levels. It can also be used to identify areas to develop in line with the Government’s Sport Strategy. Some of the data inside the report include:
