Physical Activity Advisor

About the Role

This role is vital to provide expert knowledge to Together Active and external organisations about the impact of improving physical activity levels. Working closely with the Development OĆcer – Workforce, it will help to develop and implement evidence-based practices, policies and programmes that promote safe, eąective and inclusive physical activity experiences, closely linked to organisational outcomes.

1. Together Active’s programmes and work areas are informed by the latest and most relevant knowledge for being active, particularly in relation to inclusivity, physical health outcomes and mental wellbeing.
2. Together Active is regarded as a source of high-quality and cutting-edge information by partners developing services and programmes.
3. Physical activity is considered by our partners as intrinsic to building robust health programmes.
4. Everyone in the organisation has a strong understanding of the impact of physical activity in a variety of settings, and the most appropriate forms of activity for diąerent groups of people.

Key Responsibilities

All the duties you undertake will be directly linked to the outcomes above and you’ll have autonomy over what this looks like with support from your line manager. You could expect your tasks to include:

  • Apply knowledge and expertise to ensure all programmes commissioned by Together Active are evidence-based, safe and eąective.
  • Oversee the delivery of physical activity programmes, ensuring adherence to best practices, participant safety, and programme outcomes.
  • Alongside the Development OĆcer - Workforce, identify suitable training and resources for the Together Active team and physical activity providers to support our work with people with long-term conditions and SEND.
  • Support the Development Lead – Health and Wellbeing in developing the quality assurance process for physical activity providers in regards to suitability for people with long-term conditions.
  • Research and provide information about physical activity recommendations, best practice and resources for our focus long term health conditions and populations, supporting our programme development.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with social prescribing teams, health and wellbeing coaches, community connectors, and other health professionals to gather insight into existing physical activity provision and gaps in support for their clients, providing suitable physical activity recommendations as appropriate.
  • Assist in evaluating the eąectiveness and impact of our funded programmes
  • Support the Development Lead – Health and Wellbeing in finding suitable community based physical activity oąers in our focus areas and highlighting gaps in provision.
  • Review, maintain and build on the health content of Active My Way through research and feedback from our health colleagues.
  • Provide latest research and information about the physical activity needs of specific groups to inform PACC training and support with the delivery of these training sessions.
  • Contributing to decisions made by the wider leadership team by using your expertise to provide insights, knowledge and recommendations.
