This workshop will equip individuals with the skillset to become ‘board ready’ as a non-executive director (NED). This workshop focusses on what is expected of a director and their fiduciary duties.

This will be a very interactive workshop which will examine what makes a board effective and how you can apply best practices and behaviours to improve the performance of your board. This training has been developed specifically for the sector and will look to identify how you can effectively apply principles of good governance to make sure you are fulfilling your responsibilities as a board member.

This workshop will cover:

  • Role of a director and board
  • Fiduciary duties
  • Conflict of interests
  • Practical application of governance codes
  • Board behaviours and culture
  • Case studies

This workshop is aimed at aspiring directors or new directors in the sector. The aim of this workshop is to equip attendees with basic yet practical ‘know-how’ of good governance.

Vijaya has led the governance function to provide support and advice on all governance matters to our members and stakeholders since January 2016. Vijaya has significant experience of providing governance consultancy in Wales and across the UK and has been the main point of contact for governance services for. Vijaya was also seconded to Sport England to help draft the A Code for Sports Governance.
