Technical Project Manager

PURPOSE

The ECB is undergoing a rapid digital transformation to enable it to deliver its ambition to inspire a generation to say cricket is a ‘game for me’. 

A key role of the Technology department is to support the adoption and development of the systems, cloud services and data integrations needed to enable this transformation.  This has created the need for a Technical Project Manager (TPM) role to collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage resources, and use industry best practices to ensure the successful delivery of projects some of which will be technical in nature. 

Working in a relatively small team you will be responsible for projects in the cloud and physical infrastructure world. Experience with Dynamics CRM, Azure and data integrations is desirable for this role. 

The TPM will act as a member of the Technology Department and as such will be expected to contribute and support the team in everyday business where appropriate, including on occasions providing technical support at venues.

YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Collaborate with the Digital and Data teams to design and manage projects across a range of technologies and practices hosted in a hybrid cloud environment.

  • Creation and implementation of project SOWs, project planning, execution pipeline and other associated documentation and processes for the professional teams in the ECB.

  • Responsibility for the creation and agreement of Project schedules, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and meeting quality standards.

  • Control the Change management process enabling the effective resource planning, forecasting and budgeting along with other members of the team.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define project requirements and expectations.

  • Ensure alignment of project goals with organizational objectives.

  • Co-ordinate project streams from a technical perspective to ensure alignment on common technology strands and flag/support divergencies as and when required.

  • Manage cross-functional teams involved in systems implementation and data integration.

  • Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to team members.

  • Support handover of completed projects to support team.

  • Ensure that all required documentation and tools are available and accessible to the project implementation team as necessary.

  • Ensure project meetings take place at the frequency deemed necessary and stakeholders are managed accordingly.

  • Introduce new methods of sharing dependant resources and utilising said resources on single and/or multiple projects.

  • Collaborate with the other team leaders to allocate resources to projects when required.

General Requirements:

  • Occasional travel may be required, for example to other offices.

  • In undertaking these responsibilities, the post holder can delegate responsibility, but not accountability, for specific functions to other individuals or 3rd parties.

  • The post holder is required to always follow ECB policies and procedures and must only use ECB provided equipment to access ECB systems and data.

  • A commitment to commute to the offices a minimum of 3 days a week.

YOU’LL HAVE

  • Ideally a university degree or equivalent

  • Demonstrable experience working in a project management role with a focus on systems implementation and data integration.

  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Excellent critical thinking skills and an open-minded mentality for new ideas 

  • Ability to build understanding through data presentation, visualisation tools and techniques.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to negotiate with multiple businesses and stakeholders to find solutions for technical challenges.

  • Experience in working in an agile environment.

  • A solid understanding of how to establish, maintain, and positively leverage effective stakeholder relationships.

  • A proven ability to work with efficiency, flexibility, and good humour, understanding the ever-changing events environment, which could include unsociable hours.

Desired Qualification: (Not essential)

A technical project manager will be expected to have technical expertise, project management skills, and soft skills to effectively manage projects - It will be desirable if the applicant has the following qualifications and system knowledge:

  • Project Management Certification: A certification such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or PRINCE2 that demonstrates proficiency in project management methodologies, tools, and techniques.

  • Technical Background: A strong understanding of the technical aspects relevant to the projects being managed. This could include knowledge of CRM, Software Development, Application Development, IT infrastructure, Hardware systems, etc.
