Community Activator Birmingham
Salary - £120 per day (8 hrs) flexible hours - Up to 16 hours per week
Sporting Equals is a national charity established to promote ethnic diversity in sport and physical activity. This is an exciting time in Birmingham with the forthcoming 2022 Commonwealth Games and we require an individual who can harness this opportunity to position Sporting Equals and our projects at the centre of the action.
In Birmingham we are seeking a dynamic individual with the natural ability to engage and build a strong midlands network with and in the diverse ethnic communities through an experienced operational and strategic approach to coordinate and support our projects.
You will have an understanding of working in the sport and voluntary sector coordinating and supporting projects working in partnership with a variety of stakeholders and agencies, along with excellent communication skills and the ability to connect the dots through a strategic approach to the role. A passion for race equality is important and an understanding of community engagement and the key barriers facing ethnically diverse communities.
The ability to work independently to achieve KPIs, steer projects, create monthly reports and make decisions are all skills you take in your stride, with a depth of experience in community work and how to successfully support and progress projects involving and working with both volunteers and local partner organisations, alongside the ability to network and take people with you at both a strategic and grassroots level.
