Event Manager (Power8 Sprints)

Salary: Day rate contract role

Job Purpose

British Rowing is producing an exciting, high profile, new event this year, Power8 Sprints, in Bristol on 22nd July for which we need an ambitious Event Manager to support the Event Producer and extended project team.

This is an opportunity to be part of the dynamic team that are shaping and producing the first ever Power8 Sprints event. The role would suit somebody who has experience of event managing or as a logistics manager and is particularly motivated by being part of something that is innovative, fast- paced and continually evolving.

Background

Power8 Sprints will be the headline act on the water at the annual Bristol Harbour Festival on Sunday, 22 July.

The sprint event will see men’s and women’s crews racing in eights from eight cities – Bristol, Cambridge, Exeter, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham and Oxford – battle it out, head-to-head over 350m in a bid to be crowned Power8 Sprints champions. It will be high-octane rowing, where technical skill combined with raw power will be critical to crossing the finish line first. Each city crew will race in a unique and vibrant colour, allowing fans to get behind the team of their choice.

Fans will be able to get to know the personalities in the boats through behind-the-scenes shots in the build-up to and during the event. Specialist technology will also be used during the races to bring fans closer to the action as it unfolds on the water.

To showcase Power8 Sprints to a wider audience British Rowing is in conversation with a number of broadcasters to bring all the action from the event live into homes across the country through TV coverage and online.
