A unique opportunity has arisen to help shape the future of football in further education. The English Colleges Football Association (ECFA) committee has a vacancy for a committee member who will guide, advise and challenge the delivery of the ECFA Strategy 2017-2021 to develop football in FE. The successful candidate, employed at an AoC Sport member college, will influence the development of FE football nationwide, provide a voice for members and be an advocate for ECFA and FE.

AoC Sport is the lead organisation for college sport and physical activity. Working in close partnership with The Football Association as their sole FE partner, we aim to grow and sustain college football by delivering quality competitions, providing participation programmes for all, developing a skilled and diverse workforce, engaging with FE communities and exemplifying effective governance.

The English Colleges FA (ECFA) represents the football delivery arm of AoC Sport. As set out in our new strategy, our vision is ‘FE communities inspired to be regularly active and reach their potential through football’ with a mission to develop of FE football by providing inspirational experiences for students and local communities and empowering colleges to create meaningful playing and volunteering opportunities’.

The ECFA Committee is one of three advisory groups to the AoC Sport Board. The committee is made up of seven college representatives (including one vacancy), one FA Staff representative and three AoC Sport representatives. The Committee is led by Chair Kevin Hamblin (Group CEO and Executive Principal at South Gloucestershire and Stroud College), with support from Vice Chair Dr Julie Mills (Principal and CEO at Milton Keynes College). Our aim is to recruit members with an appropriate mix of skills and experience to form a modern, strategic and dynamic football committee which provides a voice for members and gives expert advice to the National Football Development Manager and the AoC Sport Board.

Please note that commitment required to fulfil this position is to attend quarterly ECFA Committee meetings which are usually held at St. Georges Park, a college or Wembley Stadium and that the post is voluntary and unpaid.

1. Deliver Quality Competitions: To be visionary and innovative in providing high quality football competitions by anticipating and meeting demand.

2. Grow The Game: To inspire more people to play football more often through inclusive, flexible and appropriate playing opportunities.

3. Develop The Workforce: To provide the student workforce with pioneering educational and training opportunities that empower high quality learning, add value to study programmes, enhance student employability and develop a diverse workforce.

4. Engage the Community: To be recognised as providing outstanding football and educational services to students, further education institutions and partners.

5. Transparent Governance: To ensure we have the necessary financial and staff resources to deliver our plan.
