Commercial & Finance Director
Salary: Circa £60,000

The Pony Club is looking to recruit a dynamic and strategic Commercial and Finance Director to our Executive Team.
We are the largest youth equestrian organisation in the UK with 40,000 members and 10,000 volunteers and we have a presence in 27 countries around the world. We are the starting place for anyone with an interest in horses and riding including the majority of equestrian team members and Olympic medal winners.
This is an exciting time to be joining the Pony Club. With a new Chief Executive, Rhian Gibson who has recently joined us from Welsh Gymnastics, we are going through a season of reshaping and modernising that will help deliver our ambitious 2017 – 2020 strategy. This is a newly created role with a broad remit that brings together finance, sponsorship, merchandising, marketing and events.
It will sit at the heart of the Executive Team working very closely with the Chief Executive to help develop and realise the Pony Club’s exciting future. With a total team of nine across five functions (finance, sponsorship, merchandising, marketing and events) you will be responsible for two key areas –maximising our income and managing our expenditure.
Maximising Income You will be charged with developing and implementing new commercial opportunities, sponsorships and strategies according to our objectives to deliver growth, and manage relationships with financial partners, sponsors and investors.
Managing Expenditure With the Chief Executive and Treasurer, you will set financial targets and budgets, supervise all accounting and finance personnel and oversee all audit and internal control operations.
You will provide leadership to the Board and Executive on the finance and accounting strategy through driving its financial planning and analysing its performance, risks and investments. Who we are seeking
You will be a commercially minded finance leader with experience of leading and delivering change.
You will be comfortable taking on a wide remit of responsibilities, have some experience of building external relationships and have a passion for developing young people and the welfare of horses and ponies.
