Head of Commercial Partnerships

Leading commercial partnership activity to fulfil its strategic objectives, ensuring brand partnerships are highly valued, The PGA is seeking to recruit a Head of Commercial Partnerships, based at PGA National Headquarters, The Belfry, Sutton Coldfield.

Reporting to the Executive Director – Business Development, the Head of Commercial Partnerships will:

  • Source new sponsor and brand partners, playing a lead role in negotiations;
  • Ensuring the provision of rights, benefits and services that support and enhance the reputation of The PGA, which contribute to a positive commercial profile;
  • Develop long lasting Partnerships that achieve mutual success and value for the long-term benefit of both The PGA and the PGA Partner;
  • Identify and engage brand prospects, developing strong contacts and relationships;
  • Align the commercial strategy with the media and communications department and other relevant internal departments to ensure consistent and effective commercial planning and collaborative working.

Having substantial relevant experience at managerial level in a similar role, extensive experience in gaining partnership opportunities with an established portfolio of strong relationships built from experience working within the golf industry, the ideal candidate will hold a demonstrable track record in selling commercial rights to brands and sponsors whilst identifying potential commercial opportunities, securing contracts and implementing propositions which are sustainable and add read value to the business.

Being an excellent negotiator; commercially and financially astute with first class interpersonal and communication skills; strong analytical skills with the ability to make data driven decisions; able to develop good relationships with senior business executives whilst thinking strategically and tactically; understanding the needs, aims and objectives of The PGA; and the ability to gather market intelligence/research and develop into an actionable sales strategy are among the key competences to succeed in this role.

As well as being a golfer the successful applicant will have a strong business background, presence and stature, will be results orientated, self-motivated with excellent attention to detail.

This is a permanent, full-time role working around the core hours of the business (9am-5pm, Monday to Friday). Travelling and occasional weekend and/or bank holiday working however are essential to fulfil this role.
