Eastern Region Rowing Council Welfare Adviser

Location: East of England

The Eastern Region is looking to appoint a volunteer to support Club Welfare Officers in the region.  This post is initially for one year from April 2019.

We are seeking:

  • a self motivated individual with excellent interpersonal skills and good oral and written communication skills
  • someone with a commitment to, and understanding of, Safeguarding and Child Protection;
  • someone with the ability to welcome, engage with, and positively support all stakeholders whilst being mindful of confidentiality.
  • someone who will actively promote the ethos and standards of British Rowing;

The post-holder will report to the Chair of the Region and the BR Lead Safeguarding Officer (as appropriate) and will be supported by the Executive of the Region through its Chair and Vice Chair. The post-holder will need to become a member of British Rowing if they are not one already.

The closing date  for applications is 24 February 2019. Interviews to be held in the week commencing 4 March.

Eastern Region Rowing Council is the representative body for members of British Rowing in the East of England. There are more than 4,200 individual members of British Rowing in the East in more than 100 clubs encompassing inland fine boat rowing in schools, colleges and open clubs and traditional gig rowing on the coast.

The Council takes an active role in contributing to the work of national committees while supporting clubs and competitions within the region to achieve the goals of their members. The region’s development of coach mentoring is regarded as nationally significant, biannual Sharing Good Practice conferences are very well attended and we provide pathways for athletes through active promotion and participation in Junior Interregional events and Power8 Sprints.
