Sport and Recreation Alliance seeks new Communications Officer to drive volunteering work

The Sport and Recreation Alliance is seeking a new communications officer to join the team to help develop and drive our communications for our work on sport volunteering.

Join In, the national brand for sport volunteering, puts volunteers into community sport through campaigns, on-the-ground work and by matching people to volunteering opportunities at clubs in their area. Join In was created to harness the spirit of the London 2012 Games and this baton was handed to the Sport and Recreation Alliance in October 2016 to continue the sport volunteering legacy to create even more opportunities for sports volunteers across the UK.

The communications officer is a new role and will be responsible for the day to day communications on this important area of our work.

Chantel Scherer, Director of Marketing, Communications and Member Engagement said, “we are seeking someone with strong communication skills with an excellent attitude to help drive traffic to the Join In website, and through our other digital channels, so that clubs that need volunteers can easily find them.

“Our vision is an active nation through sport and recreation and volunteers play a crucial role in this. It is important that we work to make sport and recreation volunteering more representative and more accessible – a key objective in our new strategy. The communications officer will play an important role building on the Join In legacy by making sure that it represents all volunteers and opportunities and promotes the benefits that volunteering can bring.

“This is a great opportunity for someone who is looking to make their mark on an important area of our work and who has a passion for volunteering.”
