Arthur Bell Trophy

Nominations for the Arthur Bell Trophy are now officially open!

After the significant challenges that our grassroots clubs have faced over the past 12 months, it has never been more important to highlight and celebrate the outstanding work taking place in our communities across the country – and this award represents the perfect opportunity to do just that.

Each year, it is presented to an individual or organisation that is deemed to have made a phenomenal contribution to the development of community sport or recreation.

Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, Sir Bobby Charlton and Lord Sebastian Coe are just a few of the many sporting greats to have won this award, and you could hold the key to helping your sporting heroes follow in their footsteps.

Share the news with your networks, tell your friends and get nominating to ensure the people who light up your activity are given a chance to shine.

Please note that, unless you are an Honorary Member of the Sport and Recreation Alliance, your nomination will need endorsement by your National Governing Body (or equivalent) and we shall contact the relevant person within the organisation upon receipt of your nomination. If you are an Honorary Member, you may submit a nomination without the need for this endorsement.

Emeritus Award

Nominations are now open for our prestigious Emeritus Award.

For more than 10 years, the award has recognised volunteers in our sector who have dedicated their lives to helping to get the nation active.

Volunteers who, for many decades, have been the basis for the great successes and experiences that we’ve had in sport and recreation, be that in our parks, on our podiums, on our streets or in our stadiums. This includes those who have supported the Alliance with its work over many years, helping the organisation and its members to jump on opportunities and to tackle challenges.

Former sailing coach Alan Woolford picked up the award last year and previous winners include Sir Hugh Robertson KCMG MP, Dame Diana Ellis, and Dame Mary Peters CH DBE.

We are happy to accept repeat nominations from previous years and if your organisation is a member of the Sport and Recreation Alliance, we want to hear from you! As part of this process, we will also need the endorsement of your National Governing Body (or equivalent).
