The Sport and Recreation Alliance is delighted to announce that Surrey CCC and England cricketer and winner of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, Mark Ramprakash, will be the guest of honour at its 2011 Sports Club of the Year awards. As one of just 25 men to have scored 100 or more first-class centuries in the history of cricket, Mark Ramprakash is widely considered one of the most talented batsmen of his generation and will be an inspirational presence for all the clubs who have been shortlisted for the various awards.

The awards ceremony takes place on the evening of 3 May at the Grange St Paul’s Hotel in central London and includes a gala dinner. The event also acts as the precursor to the Sport and Recreation Alliance's National Conference, which is being held the following day, 4 May, at the same venue.

The Sports Club of the Year (SCOTY) comprises six award categories, which are as follows:

  • Sports Club of the Year
  • Open and Inclusive Club of the Year
  • Best Club Volunteer Management Programme
  • Community Amateur Sports Club (CASC) of the Year
  • School Club Links Award – in conjunction with the Youth Sport Trust
  • Professional Sports Club Community Programme of the Year.

More information on the Sports Club of the Year, as well as sponsorship opportunities can be found on the SCOTY webpage.
