It’s now important that we build on our existing relationship with the Minister and continue to demonstrate how sport and recreation is a key policy tool for some of the nation’s biggest issues, including obesity and mental health.

"We are also delighted that the Alliance’s Parliamentarian of the Year in 2012 Matt Hancock MP is the new Secretary of State for DCMS given he is already a strong supporter of sport and recreation.

"These appointments are good news as we are eager to see the aims of Sporting Future, the Government sport strategy, fully delivered. This means full recognition of the commitment to cross-Government agendas and support for the sector, including funding, from other departments such as the Department of Health.
