Adrian has been in charge of Badminton England since 2006 and has led the modernisation and transformation of the sport with a focus on increasing participation, achieving elite level success and improving governance.
Prior to joining Badminton England, Adrian was involved in local authority sport development and then went on to work with Sports Coach UK, the Lawn Tennis Association and England Squash.
Speaking of his appointment, Adrian said: “It is a real honour to be elected to the Board. The Sport and Recreation Alliance plays a pivotal role across our sector. As we move forward to achieve further growth of sport, recreation and physical activity, we will be stronger together.
“I am incredibly excited about the future of our sector and thrilled to be able to use my experience of community sport and national governing bodies to contribute towards the great work of the Alliance, complement the skills of the Board, support the executive team and represent the membership as we look ahead.”
Andrew Moss, Chair of the Alliance, has welcomed Adrian to the board and believes he will help to further strengthen the organisation.
He added: “The nomination process was exceptionally strong, and the Alliance membership had two outstanding candidates to choose from.
“We are delighted to be able to lean on Adrian’s incredible experience in grassroots sport and membership-based organisations. The added skill-set that he brings will continue to strengthen us as an organisation as we prepare to release a new strategy.”
Adrian will officially join the Alliance as an Elected Director following our AGM on 23 September.
