Alliance appoint new Elected Director

Helene Raynesford ()

Paralympic Champion and Chair of the British Paralympic Association Athletes Commission, Helene Raynsford will become an Elected Director at the Sport and Recreation Alliance following a member vote.

As a passionate sport and recreation advocate, Helene has worked in the industry for over 12 years with extensive board experience, and has focused her efforts on getting more people active

Helene is a firm believer in the constructive impact of physical activity, she said: “The positive gains and reach of sport and recreational activities is far wider than the time spent undertaking the activity itself.

“These benefits cut across so many wellbeing aspects from physical and mental health, social cohesion, increasing aspirations, volunteering and employment. I look forward to working with the Alliance to create an active nation and a sector which is fit for the future.”

Andrew Moss, Chair of the Alliance, has welcomed Helene to the board and believes that her experience will be valuable as we continue to shape the landscape of sport and recreation.

He added: “We look forward to welcoming Helene to the board. The experience she has gained from her time competing on the world stage and the many years working in government and public health will provide the board with excellent insight.”

Helene will officially join the Alliance as an Elected Director following our AGM on 25 September.
