The BHA’s mission is to build a brighter future for the sport of horseracing, for the people working in the industry and for the horses. The BHA's role is to act for and on behalf of the whole sport, ensuring that the highest standards apply on and off the racecourse. It aims to be a global leader in racing regulation and works with stakeholders to promote the sport in order to make Great Britain the home of the most compelling racing in the world.

About You

The BHA is seeking a dynamic Chief Financial Officer to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of this industry.

The impact you will make:
As our Chief Financial Officer, you will be at the heart of the BHA’s financial strategy, ensuring the long-term sustainability and growth of British horseracing.

You will oversee all financial operations, provide expert financial advice to the Board and Executive team, and collaborate with key stakeholders to drive industry-wide financial efficiency and collaborative strategy.

Your strategic thinking and leadership will be instrumental in making informed decisions that impact the sport for years to come.

Your key responsibilities will include:
• Lead the BHA Finance team to develop and deliver a strategic, operational, and financial plan for the BHA.
• Deliver ongoing evaluation, scrutiny, and optimisation of the BHA’s cost base and funding model.
• Collaborate with key external partners such as racecourses, media rights companies, betting operators and government to grow horseracing.
• Advise the BHA Board, Audit Committee and Executive team on all matters relating to the BHA’s financial strategy and planning.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory and statutory requirements.
• Provide the Board and main committees of the Board with visibility of industry-wide investment in key areas.
• Model, monitor and advise the BHA Board and Commercial Committee on the impact of potential regulatory or legislative changes.
• Work closely with relevant BHA Executives and the Commercial Committee to model potential return on investment for growth initiatives.

Your skills and experience:

We are looking for a highly accomplished financial leader with significant experience in a senior executive role. You will be a qualified chartered accountant with a proven track record of managing financial risks in a complex and regulated environment.

Your exceptional interpersonal and communication skills will enable you to build strong relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including the BHA Board, industry bodies, and government representatives.

To succeed in this role, you will need a deep understanding of corporate governance, a strategic mindset, and the ability to analyse complex financial data. Understanding of horseracing and a commitment to building a diverse and inclusive workplace are essential.

Join us in shaping the future of British horseracing.
