Director - The Cricket Regulator

Established in December, 2023, The Cricket Regulator is the ringfenced executive team dedicated to maintaining the integrity and regulatory standards across cricket in England and Wales. We are seeking a senior, credible and dynamic Director to join us on a permanent basis, to lead the Cricket Regulator’s experienced operational team, and the next stage of our development. This pivotal role offers the chance to shape the future of cricket regulation.

Our core mission involves implementing robust education programmes, monitoring compliance, investigating breaches, and prosecuting cases across anti-corruption, anti-discrimination, anti-doping, safeguarding, and general misconduct in professional cricket, and with a significant role throughout the game

As the Director, you will have the autonomy to make critical decisions regarding investigations and prosecutions, manage an expert team, and oversee the Cricket Regulator’s budget, reporting directly to the Chair of the Regulatory Board. This is an exciting role where you can also expect to:

  • Implement and oversee comprehensive education programmes to ensure all cricket participants understand their regulatory responsibilities.
  • Develop and maintain best practise operational systems and policies, ensuring accessible and open reporting of issues, and and addressing alleged breaches to the highest regulatory standards
  • Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, building trust and credibility in the regulatory system.
  • Represent the Cricket Regulator in communications, both within the cricket community and publicly.
  • Collaborate with international bodies, law enforcement, and other statutory andsports regulatory organizations to enhance regulatory practices.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven senior leadership experience in a regulatory environment, with a track record of managing professional teams and legal advisors.
  • Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks, ideally within sports regulation.
  • Strong integrity, with the ability to build trust and confidence among diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent decision-making skills, capable of handling sensitive and high-stakes situations independently.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to convey complex regulatory concepts clearly.
  • Experience fostering a culture of excellence, inclusivity, and continuous improvement.
