Activity Alliance is looking to strengthen its Board by recruiting trustees from various underrepresented groups. No previous experience of being on a national board is necessary.

As the leading voice and national charity for disabled people in sport and activity, we believe Activity Alliance should be reflective of the people within our communities. We are looking to strengthen our Board by recruiting trustees from various underrepresented groups.

Our inclusive culture works right across our Alliance. We champion diversity of thought and want our Board to represent modern Britain in all its intersectional glory. Ensuring our Board is diverse, accessible, and inclusive is crucial to who we are as an organisation.

Disabled people and people with long-term health conditions are twice as likely to be inactive as non-disabled people. We call this the fairness gap, which is clearly not right or fair. There is significant work to do. As a Trustee, you could help us to change this fairness gap.

No previous experience of being on a national board is necessary. All we ask is that you join us, with a willingness to learn and develop as we move forward together. You don’t need to be a sporty gym regular either. Barriers to activity may give you the insight we are looking for. 

The Board is a considerate and energetic team with different life experiences and talents. We are disabled and non-disabled people, all with a passion for change.

Meetings are professional, challenging, and informative, and there is always plenty of laughter. They are held in person or virtually a minimum of five times a year.

Our Board must reflect society and the people we work with and for. We are particularly keen to hear from people with ethnically diverse backgrounds to strengthen our Board.

Your questions answered

We are hosting three evening Zoom sessions for anyone interested in talking through the opportunity and asking any questions. Trustees, including our Vice-Chair, Phil Friend, will be available on 11, 12, and 13 July between 6:30pm and 8:00 pm.
