Chair and Non-Executive Director

  • Organisation: London FA
  • Salary: Voluntary
  • Contract: Two year term
  • Closing Date: 22 October 2021 | Non Executive Director

Two fantastic opportunities have arisen at the London Football Association to join the Board of Directors in non-executive positions.

London FA Chair

Every three years at London FA we undertake an open and public recruitment process to recruit our Chair for the next three-year term. A new Board was recruited in January 2021 and so we are now seeking a Chair to lead the Board up to the 1 January 2025 (with the possibility of additional terms up to a maximum of three terms of three years).

The successful candidate will need to have senior leadership experience to help London FA steward change effectively, at both Board level and with our members. You will understand how to role model and promote good governance and have a real passion for equality and diversity.

As Chair you will be an important ambassador for the organisation, whether engaging in high level discussion with our funders or connecting with our grassroots clubs and leagues.

This position can be an independent appointment from outside of football, or you may already be connected to the London FA. Experience of the football / sports sector will be an advantage but is not essential. If you think you are our ideal candidate you will need to be able to demonstrate at interview that you have absorbed what’s particular to our sector and relationships and that your skills are strong enough to establish credibility within this peer group.

London FA Independent Non-Executive Director

There is one (1) position available currently, as an Independent Non-Executive Director and this is to fill a recent vacancy. The term of appointment is for two years initially, up to 1st January 2024 and existing directors may seek reappointment (there is a limit of three terms of three years).

Independent Directors should not already be associated with the London FA in any way, either as a London FA Council or general member. For this role, we are looking for an individual who has a very strong legal and governance background. You will have a clear grasp of legal matters and be comfortable advising on corporate governance practices.

The London FA is responsible for governing, safeguarding and developing football across London. We are a diverse and inclusive team committed to representing the many rich and varied communities across London. We launched our new strategy in January 2020, and you can view this here.

For an informal discussion regarding these positions please contact the CEO, Paul Bickerton, on Paul.Bickerton@londonfa.com. More information on the roles can be found by selecting the apply now option located on this page.

To apply you will need to submit a CV and cover letter to this email address by midday on Friday 22 October 2021. Please clearly title your email with the position you are applying for.
