Financial Controller

British Dressage (BD) is the national governing body for the Olympic and Paralympic sport of dressage. We offer competition, training and participation activity for riders at all levels, from grass roots to elite level. An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the team as Financial Controller, based at our offices in Meriden.

As a central member of the senior management team, the Financial Controller manages all accounting and financial reporting to support the delivery of the organisation’s strategic and operational plans. This includes effective financial planning, budgeting and forecasting, as well as responsibility for all accounting functions, including the purchase, sales and nominal ledgers, tax, payroll, pension, gift aid, credit control, membership reconciliation and investments.

The Financial Controller will provide timely and accurate financial information to the CEO, Finance Director and Board, while ensuring full compliance with all financial regulations and charitable obligations. This includes providing financial reporting that will aid management decision making, while implementing internal systems of financial management and control to protect the organisation’s income streams, funds and assets.

We are looking for a dynamic, proactive and effective finance professional, who has a structured approach to work and excellent attention to detail. They will be highly organised, with the ability to multi-task, prioritise workload and meet tight deadlines. An effective team player, they will be a highly motivated self-starter, who is equally adept at working independently. Excellent communication skills are essential, with the ability to build strong professional relationships, both internally and externally.

The successful candidate will be a fully qualified accountant, with a minimum of three to five years in a similar finance position and experience of managing a small team. Knowledge of charitable / not for profit accounting and statutory reporting would also be advantageous.
