Lecturer (Degree and PG Lead for Golf Coaching)

We deliver industry focused academic programmes for aspiring PGA Professionals and industry professionals in partnership with The University of Birmingham and the University of Highlands and Islands. The PGA’s unique industry-leading programmes are the only education routes that lead to membership of the world’s oldest PGA.

The Lecturer (Degree & PG Lead for Golf Coaching) will be working with a dynamic academic team, delivering a range of modules on higher education programmes at degree level and above. The role includes:

  • Leading a range of coaching modules across our academic programmes.
  • Supporting the delivery of coaching elements of the PGA Member Education programme.
  • Preparing, delivering, evaluating the delivery of taught sessions.
  • Designing, producing, maintaining e-learning materials.
  • Designing, producing, marking and coordinating assessments.
  • Recruit, train, support and retain an appropriate workforce to include Tutors, Assessors, markers.
  • Working closely with industry experts, undertaking research to help ensure learning materials remain cutting-edge and that programmes continue to be ground-breaking.

This is a permanent, full-time role (35 hours/week) and whilst the role is based at our National Training Academy, The Belfry, Sutton Coldfield, we are providing all Lecturers with the opportunity to take part in our hybrid working trial from day one of employment. Our core hours are 9am until 5pm Monday-Friday but our hybrid working offers more flexibility in working hours and dependent on role requirements, the opportunity to spend up to 60% of the week working remotely. We understand the importance of a balanced work/home life, so strive to ensure there is little or no requirement to work evenings or weekends.

Qualifications and experience that are essential for the role include: being educated to graduate level in a relevant subject area; an understanding of all aspects of golf coaching methods, processes and development that are applied to golf coaching, and being highly computer literate. Previous experience as a lecturer in further or higher education together with experience of e-learning production as well as experience of using learning management systems. Desirable experience; PGA qualified and a good appreciation of the roles of a PGA professional in golf, the work of The PGA and other partners organisations in golf; practical experience as an active coach/coaching process within sport.
