In partnership with the University of Leicester, Sporting Equals is pleased to launch the application stage for the next cohort of the LeaderBoard Academy, with the first module taking place virtually on Wednesday 7 July 2021.
The LeaderBoard Academy works to get prime ethnically diverse candidates "board ready," by giving the most enthusiastic, passionate and experienced individuals additional help to ensure that they excel in non-executive interviews and appointments. We achieve this through a programme of three modules, which have been designed by Sporting Equals and the University of Leicester. Of the first cohort, one-third of graduates were placed on a board within six months.
For context, we pioneered the LeaderBoard Academy to actively change the lack of diverse ethnic representation on sports boards. Whilst the latest figures show an ethnically diverse representation of 5% on sports boards, this is notably a vast difference compared to the population as a whole, and trails behind positive steps towards representation made in other sectors.
To be eligible for the programme you must be from an ethnically diverse background, and not already acting as a Trustee, Board Member, or Non-Executive Director. Applications will be subject to shortlisting and successful candidates will receive confirmation after this stage.
We typically conduct three modules over three days. We then conclude workshops with an additional day of study at a later date and an essay of review. This year, due to current restrictions we will be conducting the first module digitally – this will be on Wednesday 7 July 2021 – please confirm your availability for this.
