Project Manager - Centenary

Job Summary

The Centenary Project Manager is a key role to ensure Table Tennis England keep on track to deliver all aspects of the centenary celebrations. You will be required to work closely with colleagues and volunteers to drive the overall project, keeping it on track and on budget. Some parts of the project will require more hands-on management such as the gala dinner and the fundraising campaign, whilst others will involve a lighter touch oversight role.

The role would suit an individual who can be flexible with their time as the various projects will ebb and flow throughout the year.

Key Responsibilities

  • Refine overall vision for the centenary celebrations.
  • Responsibility for delivery of the gala dinner and associated events including international guests, scheduled to take place during the Mark Bates Ltd National Championships in March 2022 in Nottingham, you will carry out a full feasibility assessment and devise the budget, including identifying income sources. An events agency may be appointed to assist.
  • Fundraising campaign – work with marketing colleagues to create a top to bottom fundraising campaign including management of patrons, philanthropists, members and wider fundraising. Work with the Chief Executive and Board to scope long-term objectives and tax efficient structures for giving and grant making.
  • Coffee table book – this project is already well underway and requires liaison to ensure delivery on time and within budget, external funding sources to be identified.
  • Associated planning for longer term project working with the Archives Committee for the digitisation and physical storage/presentation of archives, ideally identifying any heritage grants available to assist.
  • Participation campaign – a key part of the celebrations especially following covid is to provide an opportunity for our clubs, leagues, schools, communities and members to get involved and join in the celebrations in their own localities. Whilst the campaign will be devised and delivered by the marketing and communications team, you will have oversight as to how it will fit into the overall schedule of celebrations and links to the fundraising campaign.
  • Funding sources – you will be required to research and if appropriate lead on applications to grants making bodies to assist with sourcing external funds to help with the centenary projects.

Person Specification/Key skills/Experiences

Essential:

  • Experience of project management of similar projects or events (e.g. large dinners).
  • Experience of leading or working on charitable or fundraising campaigns.
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to multi-task, ability to identify inter-related deliverables/risks and work on different projects at the same time.
  • Problem solver and able to think innovatively to produce realistic ideas for existing and future programmes.
  • Experience as a budget holder including budget creation and track record of delivering to budget.
  • Experience of working with a wide range of external partners.
  • Excellent written skills; able to produce a wide range of written documents including reports and programme proposals.
  • Excellent oral communication skills including delivering presentations and working with a wide range of people.
  • A resilient and flexible approach to work.
  • Great team player and able to work independently.
  • Positive and can-do attitude

Desirable:

  • A love of table tennis.
  • Previous experience working in a not for profit and/or charity organisation.
  • Interest in preserving heritage, history and archives.
