Seasonal Tournament Assistant

The PGA is seeking applications for the role of a fixed-term, seasonal Tournament Assistant for the National Tournament Department.

The PGA’s vision is to improve the personal and professional lives of its Members. To assist with delivering its core objectives, The PGA is seeking to recruit a seasonal Tournament Assistant based from the National Tournaments office, Hunters Lodge, The Belfry, Sutton Coldfield B76 9PS. 

Reporting to the Head of National Tournaments, the main focus of this post will be to assist with the administration of PGA national and regional tournaments, PGA Europro Tour, PGA tournament regulations and general day-to-day administration within the National Tournament Department.

Duties will include processing and collating tournament entries and withdrawals, compiling draws and competitor information, dealing with telephone enquiries, general correspondence and filing. The successful applicant will collate and maintain accurate statistics relating to tournaments and assist with the day to day operation of the tournament management software (BlueGolf), which includes the initial set-up of all tournaments. The post-holder will be required to maintain all public facing web information accurately in relation to PGA National and PGA Europro Tour tournaments.

To facilitate the above the post-holder will be required to attend tournaments throughout the season and assist in the management of the administration function in field tournament offices which includes registering competitors and scoring and providing administrative support to the tournament director. Core working hours are 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday when office based. When working at tournaments the working hours will be significantly longer and will include some weekends and Bank Holidays. As a consequence a significant amount of time will be spent away from home during the busy tournament season.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent IT skills including MS Office;
  • A good knowledge of the game of golf and understanding of the internal structure of professional tours;
  • Excellent administration skills, communication and customer care skills; 
  • Ability to plan and prioritise your workload against strict deadlines;
  • Flexible approach and well organised;
  • Self-motivated to learn and continuously improve standards;
  • Ability to work as an individual or part of a team;
  • Proactive attitude to problem solving.
