Performance Manager

An exciting opportunity to provide leadership and management of the RYA Cymru Wales Performance Team with responsibility for delivering the performance elements of the RYA Cymru Wales strategic plan which aims to ensure the success of Welsh athletes in national and international competition and support more Welsh athletes competing for the British Sailing Team at all levels.

RYA Cymru Wales is looking for a self-motivated individual who will support the organisation in attaining our strategic targets.

The Performance Manager will be responsible for the ongoing evolution of a strong and sustainable performance pathway within Wales and is expected to work as part of the RYA British Youth Sailing team to deliver the UK wide remit of ‘developing the best racing sailors in the world’.

You will have a background in coaching with good technical understanding of the recognised junior and youth classes, plus an awareness of Olympic Class sailing and other British classes. You are already a self-starter capable of working independently and also as a supportive member of a dynamic and energetic staff team in the RYA Cymru Wales Office.

You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a track record of working within a team and managing your time effectively to meet deadlines. The ability to lead, manage and motivate staff and volunteers, together with excellent organisational, planning and communication skills is essential. Due to the wide range of partnerships linked to this position the ability to communicate through the medium of Welsh is considered desirable.  

The salary is £34,000 pro-rata, working 24 hours a week. Flexible working is a requirement.

The benefits package includes a pension, 28 days holiday (pro-rata) plus public holidays.
