Independent Chair – British Ice Skating Board

BIS is the National Governing Body for Ice Skating in the UK. Our vision is to succeed on the world stage and inspire all generations to enjoy skating, in all forms, for fun, success and life.

BIS is seeking to appoint an Independent Chair to lead the Association to deliver its mission and vision by providing inclusive leadership to the Association and Board. At this time of significant change, the Chair will be required to hold the Board to account for BIS’s mission and vision, providing inclusive leadership to the Board, ensuring that each Board member fulfils their duties and responsibilities for the effective governance of BIS.

The Chair will also support and, where appropriate, challenge the Chief Executive and ensure that the Board functions as a unit and works together to achieve agreed objectives. He or she will act as an ambassador and the public face of BIS in partnership with the Chief Executive.

In addition, the Chair will be required to ensure that BIS meets the governance requirements for compliance with the mandatory Code for Sports Governance.
