Chair of the Board of Trustees
StreetGames was launched in 2007 to mobilise the power of sport to change disadvantaged young lives. We work in a jigsaw of partnerships to take sport to the doorstep in deprived neighbourhoods.
The successful candidate will understand the potential of sport for good and have an affinity with disadvantaged young people. He or she will know how to lead a Board to ensure good governance in a fast moving and complex environment and will share the charity’s values: https://www.streetgames.org/streetgames-values.
The new Chair will inherit a thriving organisation with a high performing staff team. Following a period of rapid growth, we now support a network of over 1000 neighbourhood projects across the UK. Our turnover is c.£6 million and we have a staff base of c.60 employees.
The vacancy has arisen because our outgoing Chair, Amanda Sater, stepped down after her elevation to the Lords.
Time Commitment & Remuneration
The Chair will attend four Board meetings per year and meet with senior board members on another four occasions. In addition, there is an expectation that all Trustees will become actively involved in the charity which will require attendance at fundraising and or key operational events.
The Chair is appointed for an initial 4 year period but is eligible for election for one further term of 4 years.
