Lead Safeguarding Officer
Salary: £30,000 - £38,396 per annum depending on experience plus benefits
Location: England Golf Headquarters, The National Golf Centre, The Broadway, Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire, LN10 6PU
Our Governance team work across the organisation supporting internally and externally on all Safeguarding issues. The main purpose of this role will be to support the delivery of a coordinated approach to safeguarding policies and procedures and support all safeguarding issues within golf.
You will be responsible for managing the day to day case management of new and ongoing safeguarding concerns and cases, work with external safeguarding groups and manage the Disclosure and Barring Service check provided by England Golf. You will also contribute to the development and delivery of County and Club safeguarding training as well as internal safeguarding standards across the organisation.
Applicants must have a clear understanding of Safeguarding and the roles and responsibilities of statutory agencies etc. You will need knowledge and experience of working with safeguarding issues at operational and senior/management levels and of child protection case management with associated systems/statutory agencies.
Experience or an understanding of applying this knowledge and/or working or volunteering within a golf or sporting context would be an advantage. You will need the ability to build and sustain relationships with partners and work with professionals and volunteers. You must have outstanding communication skills, the ability to make decisions and justify actions, good understanding of Data Protection principles, and a high level of integrity with an ability to deal with sensitive and confidential matters.
This post has been identified as involving access to adults and/or children at risk and in line with England Golf policy successful applicants will be required to undertake a Disclosure & Barring Service Check and must also have attended a Safeguarding and Protecting Children course (SPC) or be willing to undertake one, as well as the CPSU Lead Officer training.
The position is full-time (Monday – Friday 9.00am to 5.00pm core hours) but you may be required to travel/work occasional weekends and evenings. The position is based at The National Golf Centre, Woodhall Spa, Lincolnshire although home working with significant attendance at England Golf headquarters will be considered.
