British Canoeing is establishing a new company to be responsible for the delivery of its International Events and is seeking to appoint two Independent Non-Executive Directors to serve on the Board of British Canoeing Events.
This is an exciting time to join this new Board, with following events already secured; ICF Canoe Slalom World Cup in June 2019, the ECA European Slalom Championships in May 2020, ICF Freestyle World Cup in 2020 and ICF Freestyle World Championships in 2021. British Canoeing is also currently bidding to host the ICF Slalom World Championships in 2023.
The Board is seeking applicants with a good understanding of corporate governance and experience in the planning and delivery or large sports events.
In line with our Equality and Diversity Policy we are keen to achieve a diverse Board of Directors and would welcome applications from those communities under-represented within paddlesport, in particular people from ethnic minorities, people with disabilities and women. Applicants must also be able to demonstrate an independence from the committee structures and commercial interests of British Canoeing, although other involvements in the sport will be acceptable.
Ideally the successful candidates will be able to demonstrate:
• A passion/interest in Sport
• A proven track record of success in the private, public and/.or voluntary sector
• An Ability to think creatively and strategically and challenge appropriately
You will be required to attend 2/3 Board Meetings a year, as well as support the calendar of International Events.
This is a voluntary role but normal expenses will of course be reimbursed.
