Volunteer Advisory group member

Volunteers in golf have a huge impact on growing and sustaining the game and are invaluable to clubs, counties and England Golf. There are over 46,000 volunteers in golf working across a huge variety of roles and must be considered a key network in strategies to grow the game.

The function of the advisory group will be to help understand the needs of volunteers and shape the support for volunteers and partners in golf, initially through the creation of a Volunteer Action Plan.

The group’s primary objectives will be to:

• Consult with volunteers and interpret insight/research in the area to help assess the golfing volunteer landscape.

• Evaluate the volunteer roles within golf and how they contribute towards the England Golf strategy.

• Undertake evaluation techniques to determine the ongoing/new:

- Support required for volunteers

- Support for clubs, counties and other partners to positively influence the recruitment, retention and development of volunteers.

• Bring forward ideas and best practise from Golf and other sectors/industry.

• Define where there are strategic opportunities to make improvements in volunteering. 

• Shape the creation of a volunteer action plan which aligns the England Golf Growing the Game Strategy and the England Golf People Strategy.

• Review the impact of volunteering on strategic ambitions.

Skills and attributes required

The skills and experiences required are presented within the role description. Please highlight the skills and experience you would bring to this role clearly within the application form.

Members are likely to have experience as a volunteer working with volunteers and/or volunteer management.  Experience in golf clubs and/or development is not essential to be part of the advisory group.
