Non Exec Director / Trustee
What we do
Energize is a charity dedicated to improving lives through the power of physical activity and sport
Energize is one of a national network of over 40 County Sports Partnerships across England. We were set up in 2005 and became a Company Limited by Guarantee and Charity in May & June 2012; we have quickly and successfully established ourselves in the county with our key stakeholders including our primary funding partner – Sport England. We are looking to expand the skills and contribution of the Board to take Energize’s work to the next level and take even more people on the journey to increased physical activity.
Our vision is to enable sport and physical activity to be a part of everybody’s everyday life across Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin
Role of a Board Member
The charity is governed by a Board of Trustees who also act as the members and directors of the company. The position of Board member is also a Director of the company and as Energize is also a Charity therefore includes the responsibilities and duties of a Trustee. The company aspires to implement the highest standards of corporate governance in line with Company and Charity laws and requirements of the UK Governance Code for Sport. Board members help to define, protect and champion the vision, mission, values and reputation of the organisation. They also ensure that the Board’s decisions take full consideration of the environment in which it operates and that those decisions are made in the best interest of both the beneficiaries and the organisation.
Energize seeks Board members with skills, expertise and connections to strategic networks to help us achieve our vision and to ensure good governance of all aspects of the organisation.
Board members will support the Chief Executive and Senior Management Team, and provide strategic direction for the overall work of the organisation, but are not required to be involved in the day-to-day delivery.
Skills and Attributes required
With a new Energize strategy launching soon, and a renewed remit from Sport England, we want to attract a Trustee with digital expertise who can help us and our partners in local government, health, education and the voluntary sector to make Shropshire and Telford & Wrekin a more active place to live and work.
We are particularly looking for someone who can bring expertise in market / audience insight to assist us with our focus on the customer. If you have suitable experience in a digital marketing or a behavioural insight background and a passion for the impact increased physical activity can have on lives we would love to hear from you.
This is also a great opportunity for someone who is looking for Board level experience to enhance their own personal development.
