Saturday 20 October- Arwain (Leading) Conference, 10:00 – 14:30

Leading your sport into the future

The Arwain Conference is a new  opportunity to bring together organisations across the Welsh Sports Sector and consider how we lead our organisations into the future. Linked to the Governance and Leadership Framework for Wales, NGBs have put a huge amount of work into developing best practice standards of governance and leadership in Wales. But the sector has lofty goals (as evidenced by the new Vision for Sport in Wales) and it’s important that NGBs are prepared to keep up with this progress.

The day will revolve around the theme “Leading your sport into the future”. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from other NGBs about their experience, as well as a choice of breakout workshops on  important topics in our current sector:

  1. Managing financial risk: Diversifying income streams
  2. Effectively engaging with core stakeholders
  3. Creating and executing your strategic plan

The conference is open to board members, officials and staff of any Welsh NGB and the content will be relevant for any size of organisation. Lunch will be provided, along with plenty of time on the day to network with representatives of other NGBs.

The conference is free to all GLFW signatories and will take place at the Sport Wales National Centre in Cardiff.

Many organisations have key values that often spell acronyms or look great in principle but are often lost in the day to day running of the business. In this webinar we take a fresh look at NGB values and how to turn them into a desired culture that is clear for all involved in your organisation.

In this webinar you will learn:

February part two- Webinar- Board Behaviours

The Governance and Leadership Framework for Wales has a special focus on board behaviours - having the right policy documents in place doesn’t guarantee a successful and well-run organisation. Policy and process needs to be backed up with the right culture and behaviours, demonstrated from the top down.

In this webinar you will learn:

  • What we talk about when we talk about board behaviours
  • How good board behaviours can benefit an organisation
  • How individuals can demonstrate effective board behaviours
  • What boards can do collectively to encourage a culture of effective board behaviour in their organisation
