Swim England is the national governing body for swimming in England.

We help people learn how to swim, enjoy the water, and compete in our sports of swimming, diving, water polo and synchronised swimming.

We are looking to appoint four National Academy Head Coaches on a voluntary basis, to coach our Water Polo 2007 & 2008 boys’ squads and our Water Polo 2007 & 2008 girls’ squads.

The purpose of the volunteer roles will be to, in consultation with the Senior Team Head Coach, plan, prepare and lead a programme of development for all players covering all assets of the game in preparation for national and international consideration.

Producing detailed written activity and event reports following competition will also form part of the role as well as communicating with the club and regional coach for each player to manage expectations and ensure accurate and consistent communication in relation to athlete development.

The welfare of our athletes is extremely important to us and you will also consider this paramount in the planning, delivery and review of all activities.

Reporting to our Water Polo Talent Officer this is an exciting opportunity to volunteer alongside our Water Polo Talent team and our wider Sport Development team.  

We anticipate the level of commitment to the role being one weekend every two months usually Saturday – Sunday based in UK and an annual 5 day camp either in the UK or overseas. 

In addition there will be approximately 3-8 hours per week for administration time. Weekly time commitment varies throughout the year dependant on the season. 80% of the time will be 3-8 hours per week and 20% of time this will be 6-12 hours per week.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Excellent communication skills. 
  • Excellent time management skills. 
  • An in-depth technical understanding of Water Polo and the needs of our sport and players. 
  • Hold a relevant Coaching Qualification. 
  • A willingness to meet the level of commitment for the role.
