We are looking to appoint two Head Coaches on a voluntary basis, one to coach our Water Polo Under 17 & 19 Men’s team and another to coach our Water Polo Under 17 & 19 Women’s team.

The purpose of the two volunteer roles will be to coach the England National team and Great Britain team leading up to European Youth and Junior Championships. You will therefore benefit from forming relationships with Swim England and British Swimming team members.

The role will involve planning, preparing and leading a programme of development for all players to complete for the National team. You will support a programme of development for all Assistant Coaches and other support staff, designed to enhance their knowledge, skills and abilities.

Producing detailed written activity and event reports following competition will also form part of the role as well as communicating with the club and regional coach for each player to manage expectations and ensure accurate and consistent communication in relation to athlete development.

The welfare of our athletes is extremely important to us and you will also consider this paramount in the planning, delivery and review of all activities.

Reporting to our Water Polo Talent Officer this is an exciting opportunity to volunteer alongside our Water Polo Talent team and our wider Sport Development team.

We anticipate the level of commitment to the role being one weekend per month usually Saturday – Sunday based in UK. There will be up to four weekends per year usually Thursday – Sunday based outside the UK.

In addition there will be approximately 6-15 hours per week administration time. Weekly time commitment varies throughout the year dependant on the season, with 80% of time being 6-10 hours per week and 20% of time being 10-15 hours per week.

The successful candidate must have:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • An in-depth technical understanding of Water Polo and the needs of our sport and players.
  • Hold a relevant Coaching Qualification.
