Swim England is the national governing body for swimming in England.

We help people learn how to swim, enjoy the water, and compete in our sports of swimming, diving, water polo and synchronised swimming.

We are looking to appoint four Volunteer Team Managers for the Women’s & Men’s U17 & U19 National Teams.  

The purpose of the four volunteer roles will be to provide team management support to the England National team and Great Britain team leading up to European Youth and Junior Championships. You will therefore benefit from forming relationships with Swim England and British Swimming team members.

The Team Manager will lead on the safe management of domestic and international training camps and fixtures as well as overseeing the safety and welfare of all athletes under control and care.

You will support the Head Coach and Water Polo Talent Officer to plan and manage all bookings and arrangements for training camps including, where appropriate, hotel bookings, travel arrangements, insurance provision, provision of food and refreshments etc.

The welfare of our athletes is extremely important to us and you will also consider this paramount in the planning, delivery and review of all activities.

Reporting to the Volunteer Head Coach and Water Polo Talent Officer this is an exciting opportunity to volunteer alongside our Water Polo Talent team and our wider Sport Development team.  

We anticipate the level of commitment to the role being one weekend per every two months usually Saturday – Sunday based in the UK and up to four weekends per year usually Thursday – Sunday based outside the UK. 

In addition there will be approximately 6-15 hours per week of administration time. Weekly hours varies throughout the year dependant on the season, with 80% of time being 6-10 hours per week and 20% of time being 10-15 hours per week.

The successful candidate must:

  • Have an up to date safeguarding certificate and a team manager qualification.
  • Be computer literate and have a good knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point etc.
  • Have experience of Team Management at regional level. 
  • Have a strong commitment to playing a significant role in the development of young athletes.
  • Must be willing to meet the level of commitment for the role.
