Overview The British Olympic Foundation (BOF) is the charitable arm of the British Olympic Association, responsible for the development of the Olympic Movement, its ideals and values and encouraging participation in and awareness of Olympic sport within the UK. The Foundation aims to create learning opportunities for young people through sport as well as education to encourage personal development, fair play and personal excellence. With a variety of initiatives including an education programme, sports camps, workshops, conferences, international exchanges and educational resources, the BOF aims to touch young people's lives with the Olympic dream from primary through to university level students.

The BOF is looking to recruit 1 to 2 trustees with particular interest in those with skills in either fundraising and sponsorship or teaching / education. Through this recruitment the BOF is recruiting trustees with the view that they may become the Chair in the future. Scope To undertake comprehensive support and add value in the areas of Governance, Fundraising, Get Set programmes, Strategy and Risk Mitigation to the BOF Board and Staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• To be a high level and credible individual who can bring specific expertise in education, grassroots sports programmes or the charity sector, that come to the Board and provide insight, commentary and advice to the Board as required. 

• Provide support and advice on the BOF’s strategies, particularly in relation to education and youth engagement.

• To support the Chairman and Director.

• To strengthen connections with the BOF’s key stakeholders, maintaining its external reputation.

• Ensuring that financial controls/management and systems of risk management are robust and that the board is kept fully informed in a timely, relevant manner.

• Participating in any Board induction, training and evaluation identified as an individual and as part of any Board committees which you attend/chair.

• To fulfill a time commitment of 0.5 days per month, including the Board meeting and other BOF events.
