Sports Development Executive

Salary: £30,000 - £32,000

Location: High Wycombe

Job Purpose

Overall responsibility to deliver key strategic projects including nationwide Civil Service Active Wellbeing Week and the Civil Service Mental Health Conference.  Support the Sports Development Manager in the review of government’s departmental strategy, departmental sports, health and wellbeing network.

Key accountabilities

  • Plan and coordinate the delivery of CSSC’s sports strategy. Key requirements will include planning and delivery schedules, communication with stakeholders including the civil service and public-sector departments, health and wellbeing bodies, affiliated organisations and members.
  • Promote and maintain close working relationships with key stakeholders including civil service and public-sector departments, health and wellbeing bodes, affiliated organisations and members.
  • Assist in the research and consultation with key stakeholders on the direction of sport and health and wellbeing both within CSSC and within the civil service.
  • Lead the planning and delivery of the nationwide Civil Service Active Wellbeing Week and Civil Service Mental Health Conference as well as establishing and maintaining a lasting legacy.
  • Assist volunteers with the planning, organising and monitoring of sport and physical activity within their department as well as supporting the development of volunteers’ knowledge, skills and competence, ensuring alignment with the Volunteer Team Leader and the Volunteer Strategy.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Proven experience of managing key strategic partnerships with stakeholders, affiliates and volunteers.
  • Be an excellent communicator with exceptional interpersonal, negotiating and influencing skills.
  • Understanding of the latest approaches, best practice and key trends within the sports, leisure and health and wellbeing industry.
  • Passionate about all aspects of personal and organisational wellbeing, including physical, emotional, spiritual and mental health.
  • Excellent organisational skills; the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritise and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and part of a team.

Skills, experience & qualifications

Essential

  • A relevant degree or HND, alternatively at least 2 years’ experience in a sports or health and wellbeing related environment.
  • Project Management Skills
  • The ability to work independently
  • Strong client relationship skills
  • Negotiation skills and a political awareness of current sport and health and wellbeing issues.
  • Excellent organisation, administration and IT skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including some evenings and weekends.
