Location: PGA in Ireland, Dundalk Golf Club, Blackrock, Dundalk, Co. Louth, Ireland. 

The PGA’s vision is to improve the personal and professional lives of its Members.  To assist with delivering its core objectives, the PGA is seeking to recruit a Tournament Assistant - Nil Hours (field based), to support the PGA in Ireland, Dundalk Golf Club, Blackrock, Dundalk, Co. Louth, Ireland. 

Reporting to the Regional Manager, the main focus of this post will be to assist with the administration of PGA in Ireland golf tournaments/events acting as Tournament Secretary in the field as defined by the staffing schedule. It is anticipated that this Nil Hours appointment will expire the end of September 2019,  the Unfair Dismissals Acts will not apply by reason of the expiry of this contract on this date. 

Duties will include assisting with the administration at field tournament offices, registering players, processing tournament paperwork including scorecards, recording scores in line with PGA policy; general event administration in the field to ensure day to day deadlines are met; assist with the day to day operation of the Tournament Management software (BlueGolf),  which includes the initial set-up of all tournaments.

To facilitate the above the post-holder will be required to attend tournaments/events throughout the season and assist in the management of the administration function in field tournament offices; deliver good standards of customer care/service; maintain a professional/businesslike appearance, ensure administration is accurate, up to date and fit for purpose.    

This is a Nil Hours position working in the field, location independent. When working at

tournaments/events the working hours may be significantly long and will include some weekends and Bank Holidays. As a consequence a significant amount of time will be spent away from home during the busy tournament season.

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Competencies:

  • Excellent IT skills including MS Office
  • A good knowledge of the game of golf
  • Experienced administrator, preferably in a customer service environment
  • Excellent communication and customer care skills
  • Ability to work as an individual or in a team
  • Flexible approach and good organizational skills
  • Highyly motivated to learn and continuously improve standards
  • Proactive attitude to problem solving
