World Class Start Assistant Coach
Salary: £7,400 per annum for 16 hours a week
Location: The programme is based in Ely and Cambridge
Job Purpose
To support the World Class Start (WCS) Coach in developing the talent search and identification system and providing technical coaching of young rowers within the WCS Programme and to develop these rowers to high performance levels. It is envisaged that the Intern will take some training sessions independently of the WCS Coach. To provide an opportunity for the Intern to develop within the WCS programme.
Responsibilities

The delivery of technical and physical training under the direction of the WC Coach.

Providing coaching and support for the rowers identified as agreed with the WCS Coach and providing feedback to the WCS Coach after sessions led by the Intern.

Co-coaching with the WCS Coach as part of professional development.

Monitoring progress of the identified rowers and liaising with the WCS Coach to evaluate this information.

Following British Rowing’s Policies on safety, welfare and anti-doping.

Assisting in organising and conducting the selection trials in the target group.

Recommending rowers for inclusion in the programme to the WCS Coach.

Liaising with the relevant host clubs for the use of facilities and equipment.

Working with the host clubs so that rowers can be included in their activities.

Being part of a network of coaches covering the UK.

Working with these coaches to deliver the WCS Programme.

Assisting with the running of testing days/camps for the WCS Programme.

Being available to attend national trials, assessments and training camps where agreed.
· Present a positive image of British Rowing, GBRT and the sport of rowing at all times, and wear GBRT clothing as appropriate.
· Perform any other relevant duties as and when required by British Rowing.

Person Specification
· Ability to work evenings and weekends, when required.
· Strong written and numeracy skills with excellent attention to detail.
· Good team worker.
· Experienced in working with diverse teams.
· A can-do attitude and willingness to take on new challenges.
· Self-motivated, forward thinking and creative.
Additional Information:
Anti-Doping The post-holder is expected to be fully conversant with the core requirements of the WADA Anti-Doping Code and its requirement on coaches and Team Support personnel to set a good personal example in this field. When directly working with athletes the post-holder has a responsibility to inform them appropriately of the Code’s application to them and to influence them in following a ‘drug-free’ culture.
Hours This is a part time 0.4 FTE (16hours a week) role.
The post-holder’s hours will be flexible to reflect the needs of the role and, while maintaining an appropriate work/life balance, will include time in evenings, at weekends and over public holidays. Attendance at residential camps and competitions is likely to be needed.
National travel may be required.
