Head of Public Affairs
Salary: £45,083 - £48,210 dependent on experience
Location: SportPark and/or Homebased in the London area
Swim England is the national governing body for swimming in England. We help people learn how to swim, enjoy the water, and compete in our sports of swimming, diving, water polo and synchronised swimming.
We are seeking a Head of Public Affairs to join our team on a permanent basis.
This is an exciting opportunity working within the Operations department, you will engage and work with the APPG, Swim Group and Patron Group to help develop Swim England’s relationship with key decision-makers, and proactively spotting opportunities to advance the reach of Swim England. You will network with key government contacts including politicians, political advisors, civil servants, non-departmental public bodies or regulators, to deliver the Swim England’s public affairs agenda and will encourage engagement from our patron to positively impact on the reputation of the sport.
About you:
You’ll have a sound knowledge of the national and local parliamentary practices and lobbying as well as an excellent knowledge and understanding of key safeguarding issues within sport. You will also have experience in the UK Parliament or via a public affairs agency or in-house public affairs team.
With an interest in and understanding of the external political environment and political developments as they affect Swim England, you'll have an understanding of the political and healthcare environment and the ability to use this knowledge to devise creative ways to influence decision-makers.
With previous experience of successfully influencing political stakeholders to agreed objectives you'll have excellent communication skills able to develop strong working relationships with key stakeholders with ease. You'll have strong organisational skills and will be able to keep up to date with work and ensure key contacts are kept up to date.
You'll have proven ability to write clearly, concisely and persuasively for political audiences in a variety of formats. You'll be able to summarise complex information swiftly and accurately for a variety of audiences and be able to understand and interpret complex policy issues and express them effectively to a range of audiences.
