Operations Manager

Salary: Competitive

Contract: Maternity Cover – 9 month fixed term contract (January – September 2019)

Hours of Work: Full Time (you will be expected to work some evenings, weekends and bank holidays as events dictate).

Location: Glamorgan County Cricket Club, Sophia Gardens, Cardiff CF11 9XR

Sophia Gardens is the home of Glamorgan County Cricket Club and we are recruiting to fulfil the role of an Operations Manager on a fixed term contract basis.

Job Summary

The Operations Manager is responsible for managing all operational aspects of the Sophia Gardens Cardiff Stadium to ensure a safe and secure environment for all day to day operations, match day operations and major events.

The post holder will be responsible for the management of a number of operational areas and will be a key member of the Operations team. They will lead the co-ordination of event planning with other departments and stakeholders so that Glamorgan Cricket delivers all events in a safe, efficient, timely and customer focussed manner. There will also be a requirement to travel to home matches held at Glamorgan ‘out-grounds’ to manage such fixtures.

The post holder will also be required to work alongside the Director of Cricket to manage all cricket operations relating to the Glamorgan CCC teams and for all major matches held at Sophia Gardens

General Duties and Responsibilities:

Operations

  • To be responsible for the cleaning operation and to ensure that the Stadium and its facilities are presented to high standards at all times
  • To ensure the delivery of the club’s maintenance schedule which prioritises compliance with legislation, comfort for our customers and is prioritised according to set budgets
  • To act as the Event Manager for nominated cricket events
  • To support the Head of Operations and the Safety Team in all matters relating to crowd management and to provide a safe and secure environment so that the Stadium complies with all current legislation
  • To be responsible for the planning, delivery and event management of all out-ground matches staged by Glamorgan CCC
  • To be responsible for the management of the Reception area of the business to include the management of the associated staff
  • Liaise with Contractors to ensure that all operational procedures are followed at all times
  • To assist with the preparation and management of the Operations Department annual budget
  • To assist with the operational planning and preparation for hosting cricket and other events at the Sophia Gardens Cardiff Stadium including the preparation of facilities in conjunction with other departments and stakeholders
  • Liaise with and support all other departments who require operational assistance
  • To keep all records and essential paperwork up to date
  • Ensure all systems and procedures are fully compliant with current Health and Safety Law
  • Liaise closely with the Head of Operations at all times and be prepared to undertake any other related duties

Cricket Operations

  • To manage cricket operations and act as the main point of contact for the ECB/ Teams and Officials during all International Matches staged at the Sophia Gardens Cardiff Stadium
  • To manage all logistics for Glamorgan CCC 1st and 2nd team for their domestic cricket programmes to include pre-season, transport, travel, expenses and accommodation
  • To manage the contractual obligations of Glamorgan CCC overseas players including the provision of appropriate accommodation, cars, flights and Visas
  • To assist with the annual fixture schedules for Glamorgan CCC 1st and 2nd teams including the confirmation of venues and associated logistics with the host venues and ECB
  • To manage the administration of all matters relating to the registration, visa regulations and work permits for all Glamorgan CCC players/coaches
  • To assist the Director of Cricket with the preparation and completion of player contracts
  • To manage the procurement and distribution of clothing and equipment to Glamorgan CCC players, coaches and support staff
  • To attend ECB cricket operations meetings on behalf of Glamorgan CCC
  • Ensure that all captains match reports are completed and returned to the ECB in a timely manner
  • Employ and manage the Dressing Room attendant on a seasonal basis

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Credible management experience in a similar role, preferably within the Events industry
  • An understanding and operational experience of Health and Safety management
  • Ability to motivate and influence individuals and teams
  • Experience in managing against a financial budget
  • Negotiation and management of supplier contracts
  • Resilience and energy to operate in a challenging and high profile working environment
  • Proven ability to operate with professionalism and integrity in challenging situations
  • Exceptional planning, coordination and organisational skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Good interpersonal, written, and verbal communication and influencing skills
  • Self-contained operator with excellent computer/IT literacy skills
  • A good time keeper willing to work long hours, weekends and bank holidays due to the nature of the job
  • Strong disciplinary skills
  • Driver’s Licence
