We are seeking a Head of Facilities & Investment Strategy to lead and manage the delivery of a prioritised pipeline of facilities in line with British Cycling’s Facilities Strategy, working in partnership with public/private sector partners, regional and national bodies to ensure that new and improved facilities are delivered across the country based on development need.

The Head of Facilities role is all about:

  • Reviewing and maintaining the British Cycling Facilities Strategy, putting in place the necessary processes and procedures to monitor, update and communicate changes.
  • Assembling a Facilities team which is able to deliver the facilities strategy through the integration of processes and planning of development needs in the regions.
  • Owning and managing the key stakeholder relationships with government (local and national) and funding bodies to ensure expectations are met in terms of engagement, consultation and decision making.
  • Owning and managing the key internal stakeholder relationships with the Regional and National Delivery teams and Regional Boards.
  • Managing competing demands for grant resources and oversee an assessment process capable of identifying priority schemes.
  • Managing and co-ordinating the financial budgets of the British Cycling facilities programme against agreed KPIs and regularly report on progress internally and externally as appropriate.
  • Leading the pre-application support stage, assessment stage, grant awards and subsequent monitoring and evaluation phases.
  • Ensuring that British Cycling design standards are adhered to and updated on a regular basis to encourage innovation and maximise development outcomes.
  • Managing relationships with all stakeholders and lead in the identification of new partners in support of the facilities programme as appropriate.
  • Making investment decisions based on all available insight/data and ensure that the facilities programme has sufficient flexibility to respond to changing demand patterns.

All we need from you is…

  • Degree level academic qualification or equivalent gained through experience, ideally supplemented with project management qualifications
  • Significant experience in the delivery of high-value capital grant programmes ideally within a sporting environment across the UK
  • Extensive experience in managing national and local government authorities and agencies to drive forward facilities development
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under pressure in a fluid and rapidly evolving environment
  • A collaborative, apolitical approach, seeking to work with existing and identify new partners in the delivery of a facilities programme.
  • An excellent understanding of the sport development process and the role of facilities in enabling sports development programmes or multiple agency investments.
  • Willingness to utilise insight/data and respond flexibly to ensure facility investments are fit for purpose.
  • Computer literate with intermediate skills in MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint.
