Performance & Technical Manager

Salary: Competitive Package

Location: Manchester (minimum two days per week) with Flexible Working

Job Description:

Basketball England is going through a period of major change with our talent network as we create new conditions for the sport to grow and develop following the publication of our new six year strategic plan, Growing Basketball Together (click here).

As the successful candidate, you will lead the reset for our talent development programmes following a period of research and development that underpins the changes in player development, coach development, our talent systems, talent identification and partnerships. Recognition of the contribution to talent development in our clubs is also part of the approach and support going forward.

You will also build much stronger relationship with players, clubs, academies, coaches and technical staff. You will be reinforcing how we have modelled our technical approach to improving player standards and international competitiveness on what other successful sports have done to create more and better cohorts of talented players and optimise the support they need to achieve their potential. You will also be working in a collegiate manner with the British Basketball Federation and the Home Country Federations of Scotland and Wales so the pathway for both national and British teams is optimised. Working closely with Sport England (our main funder) will be key to managing an effective transition and complying with our grant award.

We are seeking a highly motivated leader and team player who can work effectively with our staff team, coaches, clubs, academies and partners to implement a change management programme to drive forward improvements at all levels from the club environment to national teams.

The successful candidate will be a proven leader in the field of performance sport with a significant understanding and/or experience of performance basketball who can complement our current team and network of talent staff and volunteers in clubs, academies and our new regional talent hubs and help them take our sport to the next level. You will need to have the ability to consider all facets of player development and be able to challenge and support talent and performance coaches to improve and have greater impact on the player.
