National Delivery Manager

Job Summary

This role will be part of Table Tennis England’s Development and Volunteering team and part of the Department’s Management Team. The post holder will lead on the Core Participation Strategy and the organisations Be TT programme. The Be TT programme focuses on the organisation’s work with clubs, schools and leagues to develop and improve the experience that participants, volunteers, coaches, officials and schools have in table tennis. The role will provide the strategic focus in ensuring successful delivery of the Be TT programme and ensuring national table tennis programmes and projects are successfully developed and driven across the country. The individual will provide management and leadership to field-based development staff to enable Table Tennis England to successfully deliver against our strategy and Sport England target outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and lead the Area Development and Volunteer Officer teams to deliver against Table Tennis England and Sport England objectives.

• Act as the strategic lead for the organisation’s Core Participation Strategy, with a focus on U11 participation, Women and Girls and Retention of existing participants.

• Be part of the Department Management Group that takes a strategic lead in the department’s work with clubs, leagues, volunteers, coaches and schools.

• Be part of the organisations Collaborative Working Group to ensure successful cross-departmental working across different areas of the business.

• Manage the implementation, delivery and monitoring of local club and league development across the country, delivered through the area staff.

• Ensure that Be TT and participation delivery is led and developed by insight and that insight is used by the team to inform and support work with clubs, leagues and volunteers.

• Support the selection, audit, action planning and review of clubs and leagues selected for more focused support.

• Work directly with local volunteers to drive key projects in 3-4 counties.

• Promote effective teamwork and networking by leading regular meetings with the Development and Volunteering team to make best use of available resources.

• Promote and engage in partnership development with Local Authorities, County Sports Partnerships and other partner bodies.

• Input to and assist in delivery of marketing and communciations strategies.

• Manage the budget for table tennis development through the area team, and produces budget proposals for new initiatives.

• Provide close liasion with the mass market team on Ping!, Loop and Ping Pong Parlour requirements.

• Lead the development and delivery of the Be TT programme, including regular reports to the Executive Leadership Team and Board.

• Contribute to the project management and national planning and delivery of the Youth Product development.

• Develop networking relationships with senior development people in other sports and equivalent roles in other countries to learn from best practice.

• Collaborate closely with staff in other departments (particuarly marketing, communications and performance) to ensure a close understanding of their objectives and to contribute on joint projects.

Personal Specification/Key Skills

Previous experience:

• A minimum of 3 year’s sports development experience and a thorough understanding of sports development structure and agencies (E), a minimum of 5 years sports development experience (D)

• Experience of managing projects, producing and implementing development plans and budgets. (E)

• Experience of partnership working. (E)

• Experience of managing and leading meetings and staff. (E) 2 years’ experience of managing a team of staff (D)

• Experience of remote management of a team. (D)

• To have shown a degree of innovation in producing realistic ideas for future programmes and ways to improve existing programmes. (E)

• Experience of delivering programmes to increase participation in sport (D) Personal attributes and skills:

• Excellent written communication skills (E)

• Excellent oral communication skills including effective presentations (E)]

• Individual leadership/influencing skill – able to inspire direct reports and peers to achieve targets and maximise performance (E)

• Teamwork/collaboration - must be skilled in teamwork across different disciplines (E)

• High level of integrity (E)

• Ability to work to set priorities and achieve against targets and deadlines (E)

• A track record of managing remote staff to hit and exceed targets, and a proven ability to develop individuals and foster a positive team ethos (E)

• Willingness to travel (E)

• Possess a valid driving licence and have full use of a suitable vehicle (E)
