Member of the Board of Trustees (volunteer) x 4

Taking its name from the Paralympic symbol (the Agitos – meaning “I move” in Latin), the Agitos Foundation was founded in 2008 by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) to support and implement global development initiatives that enable Para athletes to achieve sporting excellence and to positively influence societal attitudes towards impairment.

The Foundation raises funds from a range of sources and distributes them throughout the Paralympic Movement, enabling member nations and organisations, especially in developing countries, to build sustainable pathways for athletes of all abilities and to clearly communicate our core values of courage, determination, inspiration and equality.

After changing our constitution to allow further expertise to join our governing bodies we are looking to complement our current Board of Trustees with four dynamic people who have a passion for the work of the Paralympic movement, and enjoy working in a multi-cultural, international environment with the energetic foundation team to further expand and develop the work of the Agitos Foundation.

These will be your responsibilities and key tasks:

- Serve as a committee member for at least one term (four years)
- Oversight and governance of the Executive Committee, including the approval of the budget and the yearend financial statement and discharge of the Executive Committee
- Prepare for and attend Board of Trustee meetings, currently two per year to be attended in person
- Willingness to join a support committee and represent the foundation

In particular, we are looking for applicants with a broad range of governance and oversight capabilities, in particular strategic level knowledge or experience in one or several of the following areas:

- Finance and Capital Management
- Fundraising and Grants
- Monitoring and Evaluation
- Organizational Development in developing countries

-Communications and Social Media in the context of non profit organizations and/or around sports
- Networking in an international organizational context

Furthermore

- Have a deep passion and a commitment to work for an international organization with the understanding to contribute to a social change in society.

How to apply

If you are interested and your qualifications meet our requirements, please send your CV and cover letter (pdf format) in English via e-mail to verena.conrad@paralympic.org (IPC Executive Office Manager). Please note that this is an unpaid volunteer position. Travel expenses will be covered based on our travel policy.

Selection Process

Candidates will be assessed by our Nominations Committee. Shortlisted applicants will be interviewed and a final proposal of candidates will be forwarded to the IPC governing board for approval at the beginning of 2019.

The term of office will start at the end of January/beginning of February 2019 and lasts four years. The deadline for submissions is 15 November 2018.

We especially encourage athletes and individuals with a disability to apply
