Human Resources Manager

Location: Hammersmith, London

Job Purpose

To run a centralised Human Resources (HR) function responsible for supporting the effective management and development of British Rowing’s employees within a high performing culture. This is a standalone HR role which sits in the Finance & Business Services team.

Responsibilities

  • To run the HR function for over 100 employees
  • To support employees and line managers on all HR related or employee related issues
  • To provide advice to line managers on any HR related issues they may face
  • To continue the development and implementation of British Rowing’s People Development Strategy
  • To take an active role in the development of staff in line with the People Development Strategy, with the potential to plan and deliver training sessions in house
  • To co-ordinate staff inductions and help to create improvements to the induction process
  • To co-ordinate and create improvements to the company’s performance review process
  • To support line managers on the recruitment of all employees
  • To maintain an up to date filing system, and personnel files for all employees
  • To develop, produce, review and update all necessary HR related documents and policies
  • To take responsibility for identifying and attending off job training and networking as necessary as part of ongoing personal development
  • To ensure that the company complies at all times with all the requirements of current employment legislation
  • To update the Director of Finance & Business Services and fellow Directors on impending employment law developments and changes
  • To develop effective working relationships with Directors and fellow managers
  • To keep records up to date and administrate any payroll changes with our external payroll provider each month
  • To coordinate and organise any disciplinary, grievance or other HR based meetings with any employee and to keep accurate records of these meetings
  • To support the organisation in maintaining its status as an Investor in People

Person Specification

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a HR role
  • Ability to build and sustain relationships with a network of key people internally and externally
  • Creative approach to work, with the ability to develop innovative solutions and use initiative in problem solving
  • A positive and enthusiastic approach to work
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and communication skills
  • Proven team player
  • First-rate planning skills
  • A strong commitment to, and understanding of, equality and diversity issues
  • Any CIPD qualification is a bonus

Additional Information

Standard working hours are 9:00 to 17:00 although flexibility is required in order to ensure core objectives are achieved. National travel may be required.
