Watford FC’s Community Sports and Education Trust (registered charity no: 1102239) is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated and committed individual to the role of Data Protection Officer. This is a part-time position for three days a week.

This post presents a new and exciting opportunity for a dynamic and hard-working individual to join our team, based at Watford FC’s Vicarage Road Stadium.

The Data Protection Officer will be responsible for ensuring that the Trust has a managed and co-ordinated approach towards compliance with data protection legislation, specifically the General Data Protection regulation (GDPR).

The job holder will work with the Trust’s Information Governance Steering Group and Senior Managers to ensure policies and procedures are in place and implemented effectively across the organisation.

The ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Professional experience and knowledge of data protection legislation and GDPR regulations/standards, together with an understanding of the implications on the charities functions including marketing/fundraising.
  • Excellent IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Experience of embedding and promoting best practice in data processing activities.
  • Awareness of risks associated with data processing.
  • Understanding how organisations need to adapt and prioritise data protection issues and implement the new GDPR regulations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact, lead by example, influence, and motivate a wide range of individuals (both junior and senior) in a wide range of situations. Applicants will need to have a pragmatic approach to work, able to balance good information governance with the operational realities of the Trust.
